Ferry to Elba

About us

ferrytoelba.com is an independent comparison site for the sea crossing to Elba. The mainland gateway is Piombino in Tuscany; its port authority names Cavo, Portoferraio and Rio Marina as the Elba destinations. Toremar serves all three ports, Moby and Blu Navy sail to Portoferraio, and Corsica Ferries joins that route in summer. The site is operated by Cruise Media GmbH in Ulrichstein, Germany.

Two questions decide this trip, and both come up before booking. The first is the arrival port: Portoferraio is central and has the densest service, while Cavo and Rio Marina save road miles if you are staying in the north-east or on the east coast - and cost them if you are not. The second is the vehicle. Elba is not a car-free island, the vehicle ferry is the norm, and that brings measurements, fare categories and a check-in deadline that differs from operator to operator. One misconception is worth naming: there is no regular Elba crossing from Livorno, Naples or the Amalfi coast.

What this site is not

ferrytoelba.com is an independent guide and not the website of Toremar, Moby, Blu Navy or Corsica Ferries. It is not an Elba travel guide: beaches, hotels, restaurants and boat trips belong to other sites, and so do the excursions to Pianosa and onward travel to Corsica. We sell no tickets here. Booking runs through our partner Direct Ferries, and their current prices, availability and terms apply.
